PIANO MOVING COST: WHAT DRIVES YOUR QUOTE
Piano moving cost in Toronto and the GTA is not one flat number, and any piano moving estimate that skips the questions below is a guess. Every quote we give is built from the same handful of factors, so here is exactly what we look at when you call.
Piano type and size
A spinet or upright is one piece and travels on a piano board. A baby grand or concert grand has to be prepared first: the lid and pedal lyre are secured, the legs come off, and the case rides on a skid. Grands take more crew time and more equipment, so they cost more to move than uprights of the same distance. Organs are quoted the same way, by size and weight.
Stairs, elevators and access at both ends
Ground floor to ground floor is the simplest job. Each flight of stairs, a tight turn on a landing, a narrow doorway or a long carry from where the truck can park all add crew time, and that is reflected in the quote. Condo and apartment moves depend on the elevator: whether it is bookable, whether the piano fits, and the building’s moving rules.
Distance and destination
Local moves within Toronto and the GTA are priced by the job. Moves elsewhere in Ontario, across Canada or internationally are priced by the route, the transport involved and the handling at each end. If the piano needs to wait between homes, ask about piano storage so the two dates do not have to line up.
Dismantling, reassembly and tuning after the move
If a piano cannot leave a room in one piece, we dismantle it, move it and fully reassemble it, and that work is part of the quote. Pianos also tend to drift out of tune once they settle in a new room, which is why we offer a move and tune package with a tuning visit after the move.
Why an online piano moving cost calculator gets it wrong
A calculator cannot see your staircase, your elevator or how far the truck will be from the door, and those are the details that decide the price. To get an accurate piano moving estimate, have these ready when you call (416) 230-5560: the piano type and brand, a photo of it, the number of stairs or flights at both addresses, whether there is an elevator, and both addresses. With that, we can give you a clear quote before moving day, with no surprise charges on site. Our piano moving preparation checklist covers what to do before the crew arrives.
PIANO MOVING FAQ
How much does it cost to move a piano in Toronto?
Piano moving cost depends on the piano type, distance, and access at both ends, including stairs, elevators, and tight hallways. Call us at (416) 230-5560 and we’ll walk through the details and give you a clear quote before booking.
Can you move a piano up or down stairs?
Yes. Our crew is equipped and experienced with stairs, tight turns, and narrow doorways. If dismantling is needed to get the piano through a space, we fully reassemble it once it’s in place.
Do you move pianos outside the GTA?
Yes, we handle long-distance moves across Ontario and beyond in addition to local moves. Call to discuss your specific route and timing.
Should I get my piano tuned after a move?
Pianos can shift out of tune after being moved, especially over long distances or temperature changes. Ask about our move-and-tune offer to book a tuning visit once your piano has settled into its new location.
